Let’s PEDDLE! – Recreational Bicycling

BY Hayleen Noguera

Many young people in Nosara and surrounding neighborhoods have found a new recreational activity. Generally speaking the main sport in the area is soccer, or “el futbol”, but recreational bicycling has come to motivate many to participate as much in this town as in different parts in the province.
A group of “adventurers” has acquired or modified their bicycles, peddling wherever they hear of a recreational tour. “We’ve gone to Santa Rosa, Samara, and Chira Island, among others. We like it because it’s a different way to have fun and stay healthy and above all one contributes to where they go,” mentioned Huberth Vargas, one of the six adventurers.
They say that when they went to Chira Island they ended up lost, since they had been separated from the squad. At the end, after asking for directions, they succeed in reaching the finish line. These types of fun activities is perhaps what motivates them to continue and gives incentive to young people to practice this nice and disciplined sport. Getting started is perhaps a bit costly since the type of bike is special, meaning that it has to be pretty light so that the rider may be competitive but it is worth it and your health will be thankful! Recreational bicycling – Let’s PEDDLE Everyone!
