2010 News update from Escuelita de Verano |

With new and fresh energy and hopefully more volunteers, Escuelita de Verano (Little Summer School) will be running again starting January 4th -29th, 2010. We are located at the Santa Marta school, where we will be welcoming children ages 5 to 15. In case you are not familiar with our program, Escuelita de Verano is a non-profit educational program offered to the children of Nosara and surrounding areas for the entire month of January. Some of our projects include painting, jewelry making, theater, music, dance, photography, sports, gardening and so much more! This coming year will mark the eighth anniversary of Escuelita de Verano. The program began with 8 children in attendance and has grown throughout the years. Last year we had over 150 children attend our program. Escuelita de Verano is made possible by the financial support of the community and via volunteers. Your donations help us pay for transportation, food and drinks, field trips, art supplies, and special guest educators. If you would like to make a donation or are interested in volunteering please contact us. We will have a booth set up at the organic market on Saturdays where we will be selling passports and calendars with the photos from the 2009 photography program. We will also be offering face painting, haircuts, & pony rides for donations.
Because our students are such amazing artists we have decided it is time to have an art show and auction in December. We will let you know the time and place. Our wish list this year includes: a sewing machine, gardening tools, and seeds, wood to build a stage and garden boxes, beads, and jewelry making materials, and of course money is always appreciated.
For more information please check out our website www.escuelitadenosara.org, or contact Saskia Ellemeet, phone:2.682..0585, e-mail [email protected] or Carrie Anderson, e-mail: [email protected].
If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation you can do so through the Friends of Nosara, website: www.friendsofnosara.org.
