Community Briefs

The Association of Waste and Recycle of Nosara would like to thank Enrique Vega and Linda Bristol for their donations of 55 gallon drums for beach trash, and to Eva Bristol for painting our log on these drums.

We are currently helping Harmony Hotel to coordinate an E-trash campaing in Nosara, but because we must gather 4 tons of e-trash, we need to find a bodega for storage. If you own one empty bodega or big place that could be appropiate for this purpose, please contact Gerardon Bolaños at 2682-1441 or [email protected]

CREAR’s free summer camp will create learning experiences for Samara kids

In January, CREAR will give kids between the ages of 5 and 12 from Samara and El Torito the opportunity to participate in a free summer camp with engaging educational activities such as dance classes, art projects and an environmental workshop. The kids will also go on field trips to La Selva zoo in Carrillo, Cafetalera Diría en Hojancha, Africa Mia in Liberia, and the marine park aquarium in Puntarenas. Another interesting project for camp particpants will be creating a large mosaic with an ocean theme near the Samara Police Station.

Children from Samara will participate in the camp from January 3 to 14 in the Salón Comunal, and children from El Torito will enjoy the camp from January 17 to 29 in El Torito’s Salón Comunal.

ProArtes, a San Jose-based organization, awarded CREAR a grant to help fund the educational activities. C+C Surf School also donated all the money they earned on December 18th from surf classes to CREAR, which was about $120.

For more information about CREAR or to make a donation visit www.asociacioncrear.org or call (506) 2656-2338.
