Nosara Youth Work Together for Their Own Skatepark

By Emiliana Garcia

Local skateboarders Luis Saiden Lopez Noguera, Emerson Lopez Alfaro, Randall Campos, Anthony Ruiz Herrera y Joshua Flores

A group of young Nosareños with Jordan Lopez Cordero and Luis Saiden as head of the team, launched a campaign through the social network Facebook (FB) to build a skatepark on the basketball court at Serapio Lopez School.

The initiative, launched in early December, had a great reception from users of FB, who applauded the idea. The new skatepark is touted as a project to “promote skating as a sport and thus introduce a new activity for young people and to help them stay away from drugs and other vices.” Nosara does not have a sports center and thus there is a lack of development opportunities for those who enjoy sports other than soccer and surfing.

To build the skatepark will require donations of plywood and wood decks or money to purchase them. Luis Saiden, who has a motorcycle repair shop called “Nosara Racing,” will provide the necessary labor with his group of friends.

“We look forward to making this dream come true in the near future and enjoying healthy fun,” says Lopez Cordero

Donations can be taken to Nosara Racing’s workshop in the San Pedro neighborhood in Nosara. Contact Jordan Lopez at the email address [email protected] or
