Tourism can be defined as a composite of activities, services, and industries that deliver a travel experience to individuals and groups visiting an area outside of their normal living environment. There is not one business in Nosara that is not directly or indirectly influenced by Tourism, which is the reason that on March, 11 2010 the first Nosara Tourism Chamber was formed at L’Aqua Viva Resort. Over 19 local participants/businesses were in attendance along with the team from the Costa Rican Tourism Board’s (ICT) Regional Office in Nicoya.
During the meeting, the main objective for the Tourism Chamber was established which is “to develop Sustainable Tourism by positioning Nosara as a main tourist destiny of Costa Rica, nationally and internationally, with the main priorities to improve the social and economic well being of the community and the conservation of the environment and maintenance with respect to the ecology of the area.”
The newly formed Nosara Tourism Chamber now has the responsibility to create the objectives and goals of the council, recruit new members, coordinate projects, assign work teams and work with ICT to promote Nosara through their marketing efforts. For more information about joining the Nosara Tourism Chamber or information regarding future meeting, contact the Tourism Chamber Secretary, Marco Johanning at 2682-1460 or email him at [email protected].
