Welcome to Low Mini-High Season

By Adam Dietrich

It’s mini-high season and that means it’s that one-month in the middle of the wet and low season where people suddenly seem to appear in Nosara again.

It probably has something to do with the fact that in Costa Rica it is school vacation time (also in Canada and the United States). Regardless, while Nosara may not be as busy now as in March, it’s still possible to get out basically every night of the week.

Below is a calendar of events for this next week starting on Friday July 13, there’s even more happening but these suggestions should help to get you started.

Gilded Iguana will have music from San Jose with Daniel Patino Quintana and will be screening a documentary about this years Caricaco Music Festival

Friday 13: Café de Paris is hosting the eclectic Costa Rican band Santos y Zurdos as part of a fundraiser for the Nosara recycling centre and after the Tropicana has late night sessions with DJ Paul.

Saturday 14: Firefighter fundraiser concert with Black Pepper and Combat at 6pm at the Santa Marta Community Hall, and after the Tropicana has more late night sessions with DJ Paul from 10-2:30.

Sunday 15: Costa Rican guitarist Navil Garcia, aka “Tico Hendrix” plays at Reef Restaurant from 7-10 with special menu items, after that is Solo Roots at Chaman, roots reggae and dub with DJ Palermo.

Monday 16: Take a break, surf do some yoga you probably need it after that weekend.

Tuesday 17: Gilded Iguana will have music from San Jose with Daniel Patino Quintana and will be screening a documentary about this years Caricaco Music Festival starting at 7pm. If you were dancing at the Caricaco you will probably be in the movie. Afterwards Olga’s bar will be hosting their post-Iguana party on the beach.

Wednesday 18: Chaman’s has the top shot contest with Nosara Surf Shack submit your best surf picture for a chance to win a bucket of beer. Sushi dinner at 5 and daily happy hour until 6, then it’s open until 1:30

Thursday 19: Reggae night on the beach at Olgas goes from 8-1:30 with DJ Paul.
