SNF keep working hard for better public schools… and you can be part of it
By Sarah Antonson

The Surfing Nosara Foundation (SNF) would like to thank the community members of Nosara for their continued support. We have realized great success this year: with your purchase ‘Surf Pass’ stickers, by attending our fundraisers, and by making charitable in-kind donations of supplies and school materials, you have helped the SNF complete projects and bring joy to children in the Nosara public school system.

Currently, the SNF is working hand in hand with Seidy Ugalde, preschool teacher at Serapio Lopez Fajardo Elementary School, to build a bathroom in her school. SNF has proudly donated all required materials for the construction of the project, and parent volunteers are donating their time to complete the build.  Weather permitting, the bathroom will be ready for use in early October.

In the past year, the SNF been busy! SNF has provided materials for the construction of: a gym floor completion at the Esperanza Elementary School, a new roof for the CEN (Centro Educativo Nutrición) Preschool in Nosara Pueblo, a 900 sq ft lunchroom and teacher living quarters in the Las Delicias Elementary School, and the donation of countless supplies and materials for each school, including a new sewing machine, fabric and supplies for a Manualidades program, new soccer uniforms for three school teams, funding for new dining tables and benches in a public school, donation of books to the Garza Elementary School, etc.

We have been busy– but we’re not thru yet. By the end of 2010, the SNF hopes to boast about: bringing Red Cross training courses to each community– to be held at the public schools, donating many art supplies and materials from the revenue of the ‘Auction for the Arts’ fundraiser (held on June 26th at Vista del Paraiso), as well as completing the construction of a lunchroom for Nosara’s biggest elementary school– a school currently using a classroom to feed its children. With your support, all this, and more, is possible.

If you are interested in being involved in the SNF and would like to learn more about what we do, feel free to contact Sarah Antonson at [email protected], by visiting the Surfing Nosara office next to Banco Popular, or by calling SN at 2682-0570. Thank you again for your continued support!
