Nosara Presents Candidates for the Fiestas Cívicas 2011 Queen

On Friday, November 19th, the Pageant Committee of the Asociación de Desarrollo Integral de Nosara (ADIN) presented eight Queen candidates, who will be selling coupons in the area’s communities during the next two months to raise funds for the ADIN. The candidate who raises the most money will be crowned Nosara’s next queen.

The official presentation of the eight young women, whose ages range from 15 to 22 years old, took place in the Santa Marta community hall with an attendance of over 150 people who were eager to meet them. The winner will be rewarded for her sales with a motorcycle. In addition, during her one-year reign, she will be involved in the creation of projects that will benefit the community.

Among the reasons for their nomination, some of the girls cited that they wish to help the community through their sales, while others said that they “like fashionable and trendy things” or that they “want to be the best”.

The candidates are: Jacqueline Alvarado Chaparral, 22 years old (Nosara); Maureen Olivarez Mendoza, 15 years old (Esperanza); Sumatra Perez Ávila, 16 years old (Nosara); Yamani Montero Bermudez, 18 years old (Los Adrenals); Joanna Gutierrez Espinoza, 15 years old (Nosara); Maria Jose Lopez Castillo, 16 years old (Los Adrenals); Jocelyn Espinoza, 18 years old (Nosara) and Yearling Zuni Torres, 18 years old (Nosara).

The queen’s election and coronation will be held on January 27th at the Fiesta Civicas bullring.
