Samara Fiestas Dec 29-Jan 2 Will Benefit School

Samara’s annual end-of-year fiesta is being planned for December 29 to January 2. The proceeds from the fiesta will benefit Samara’s school, according to Freddy Mendoza Elizondo, president of the commission for the town fiesta. He invites everyone to come and “Have fun with the mechanical rides and the tasty food typical of the zone.”

For the fiesta, rides and games will be set up in the plaza of Samara, and the running of the bulls will take place in front of Super San Rafael. Another highlight of the fiesta will be the presence of the famous bull Chirriche on January 1.

The events will kick off on Wednesday, December 29, with bulls from Hacienda Tres Leches from Santa Rosa of Santa Cruz and bull riders Los Coloniales from Nicoya. On Thursday, December 30, bull riders Los Chalaneros from Sardinal of Santa Cruz will mount bulls from La Hacienda El Botivo de Tomas Arrieta.

Friday, December 31 will feature Los Selectos of Sardinal of Punta Arenas and Hacienda Copal. Saturday, January 1 Hacienda de Bosque de Hugo Jimenez of San Pedro of Santa Cruz and El Chirriche will test the skills of Los Coloniales. And on Sunday, January 2, the closing day of the activities, the group Los Cachorros will ride bulls from La Hacienda de Macho Carballo. Sunday will also feature the parade of horse riders beginning midday.
